About This Piece

Inspired by 1 Corinthians, one of the oldest parts of the New Testament, Forgiveness marks Jeremy’s first deep dive into St Paul, one of the most influential biblical figures. The Greek lettering to the right translates to ‘gratitude’, while Paul’s name—intentionally obscured—surrounds the central figure.

Alongside the biblical influence, the painting reflects Jeremy’s ongoing diary-style approach, with modern references woven into the layers. The word ‘nitazines’ appears, a nod to a disturbing documentary on synthetic opioids, connecting the themes of pain relief, forgiveness, and gratitude—reminders of the things we sometimes take for granted.

Visually, this piece was also a breakthrough—an experiment in complementary colours (orange & blue, green & pink), sparking a new relationship with orange and green that would influence future works.

Created in mixed media (oil, acrylic, spray cans & pens) on canvas (60x80cm), this piece is signed, dated, and orientated on the back.
